privacy policy

In my privacy policy I describe the measures I take to protect my clients' privacy.

Privacy Policy (PP) — Version dated 09/01/2023

I, the complementary therapy practice Maltherapie Matthews, Kerstin Matthews, Obfelderstrasse 31, 8910 Affoltern am Albis, hereby confirm that I will comply with the following rules in accordance with the Data Protection Act and Data Protection Ordinance. The purpose of this privacy policy is to inform you, as my client, about how I handle your personal and sensitive data collected in my practice. Only data that are related to therapeutic treatment or relevant for informing you about possible offers are processed. These are exclusively data that I have recorded with your consent, that you have provided to me, or that are found in publicly accessible directories (telephone directory, etc.). This may include general personal data (name, address, telephone number, etc.), information about your health/medical history, diagnoses already made and, if applicable, other data you have transmitted to me in connection with treatment (patient records). These data are collected, stored and processed exclusively in your patient file or in the file necessary for administration, in particular in the app required for billing according to tariff 590. In these two storage locations all processing steps performed on your data, including the responsible persons, are traceable. Your personal data are shared only with persons or departments within our practice who need them to fulfill contractual and legal obligations. These persons are informed about the applicable data protection rules and are obliged to comply with them. Your data or parts thereof will only be made available to other persons or institutions (insurers, etc.) with your explicit consent. Exceptions are court orders or the enforcement of legitimate claims by the practice. Where your data are collected and processed physically, they are kept in a lockable space or cabinet inaccessible to unauthorized third parties. Electronically collected data are stored securely (firewall, password, etc.). According to cantonal retention requirements of the Canton of Zurich, business books, accounting and accounting records are kept for 10 years after the end of the business year. Tax documents must be retained for 15 years. Retention period for medical records is at least 10 years. Absent cantonal provisions, the legal regulation is that collected data are deleted twenty years after your last consultation in the practice. Written communication between my practice and you takes place by e‑mail, either encrypted with a common encryption program or — with your written consent — unencrypted. As a current or former client you may at any time request from me a copy of all data I have collected about you in a common electronic format. Only physically held data will be scanned for this purpose and provided to you as a PDF or in paper form. The data will generally be provided free of charge and within a maximum of 30 days. The therapist responsible for you, Kerstin Matthews, is responsible for all questions relating to the processing of your personal data and the exercise of your rights. Contact: Kerstin Matthews, Obfelderstrasse 31, 8910 Affoltern am Albis, info@maltherapie-matthews.ch, +41 78 889 39 93.

Additional mutual agreements are given to the client before the first therapy session and are kept, sealed with the written documentation, in the client file for 10 years.

website tracking

This website partly uses so‑called cookies. These serve to make the offering more user‑friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer and stored by your browser and that enable an analysis of your use of the website. You can prevent the storage of these and the below‑mentioned cookies by adjusting your browser settings; however, please note that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website fully. This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so‑called “cookies”. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is normally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services related to website and Internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser to Google as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data. The cookies are also used for Google Inc.’s remarketing technology. This technology enables users who have already visited this website and shown interest in the offering to be addressed again with targeted advertising on pages of the Google partner network. If users have agreed that their web and app browsing history is linked to their Google account and that information from their Google account is used to personalise ads, the remarketing function will work across devices. To support this function, Google Analytics collects Google‑authenticated IDs of these users. These personal data are temporarily linked with the Google Analytics data to allow the formation of audiences. Google users can adjust their ad settings under “My Account” or deactivate personalised ads. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your shortened IP address) and the processing of these data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug‑in available at: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de. In addition, Google Analytics generates reports on performance by demographic characteristics and interests.

Social Plugins

This website uses various features of the social networks Facebook, Twitter and Google+. By default, no data are transmitted to these services when visiting our website.

On some pages, social plugins ("plugins") from the social network facebook.com are used, which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. The plugins are identified by a Facebook logo or the label "Facebook Social Plugin." If you activate the plugin by clicking the checkbox or the corresponding link, your browser establishes a direct connection to Facebook’s servers. Your IP address and the URL you visited are transmitted in the process. By embedding the plugin, Facebook receives the information that you have accessed the corresponding page of our website. If you are logged in to Facebook, Facebook can associate the visit with your Facebook account. When you interact with the plugins — for example by clicking the "Like" button or leaving a comment — the relevant information is transmitted directly from your browser to Facebook and stored there. You can prevent this by logging out of Facebook before visiting our website. Information on the purpose and scope of the data collection, the further processing and use of the data by Facebook, and your rights and privacy settings can be found in Facebook’s privacy statements.

This website partly includes functions of the Twitter service. These functions are provided by Twitter, Inc., 1355 Market St, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA. By activating the plugin or clicking the link or by using Twitter and the "Re‑Tweet" function, the webpages you visit are linked to your Twitter account and made known to other users. Data are also transmitted to Twitter. Please note that as the provider of the pages we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or of how Twitter uses them. For more information, please see Twitter’s privacy policy at http://twitter.com/privacy. Re‑Targeting
